it broke out just before 6 tonight near china camp. no homes have been damaged. it's a town that is rarely touched by violence. but tonight pleasanton is reeling after a fatal officer involved shooting. the suspect is dead and the officer is recovering. but folks are still on edge. kron 4's emily turner joins us live from the scene. emily? >> emily : it is very shocking and scary here for a lot of folks because not only did somebody die but there is significant damage done. at an antique car sales shot. there have not been done shots like this in pleasanton for many years. >>:i did not think it happen here this places the suburbs and i should not happen but you

allegedly beating her neighbor to death with a baseball bat. nearby residents say this isn't the first time the suspect has had a run in with law enforcement. kron 4's scott rates joins us live from the apartment complex. where he spoke with a concerned neighbor. scott? >> scott :they tell me that this is a quiet community in that they are not used to something like this happening here. the need dry spoke with today knew both the victim and the suspect in the case, as she has lived next door to the both them for the past five years ago i never dreamed she would beat her with a baseball bat >> scott :for rosemary johnson the signs were always there. >> : it is like she was not on her methods--medication

>> scott : johnson is struggling to come to grips with the murder of her long time neighbor. >> : it's taken me a long time to adjust to this and it's hard to believe even now >> scott :johnson says the heinous act happened behind this window where the 66-year-old victim had live for some 18 years police 40-year-old brenda martinez who lived just across the hall from sat. night after admitting to beating her neighbor over the head with a baseball bat. investors say martinez "implicated herself" as the sole suspect in her neighbors death. johnson says she called police several times about what she strange behavior martinez seemed to exhibit. >> : she was taken to the psych ward several occasions >>:-she was a very pleasantly

through an area of deep water. somewhere along madrone point. crews searched the cove until about 10-o clock saturday night and picked up sunday morning --- where dive teams used cameras to pursue deeper waters. >> : it's kinda crazy >> alecia :there have been no reported drownings so far this year at the lake. many parents celebrating the july 4th wknd are holding their children just a little bit tighter. >> : - in the water we make sure they all have on life jackets, keep an eye on the kids >> : life vests on all the time. we try to maintain, boat and have fun >> alecia :this mission has gone from rescue to a recovery effort. teams will stay out late tonight. and if the teen still isn't found, i'm told they'll pick up where they left off tomorrow morning with more search teams and extra resources. reporting from lake sonoma. >> vicki : a shooting victim in oakland has died after showing up at a hospital saturday. according to officials a man was shot sometime before 10-15

saturday night and then dropped off at a hospital. the victim was then transported to another hospital nearby where he was pronounced dead just after 10-30. the suspect remains at large and the identity of the victim has not been released yet. a wildfire that burned more than three-hundred-twenty acres in vacaville is 100-percent contained. officials say the blaze might have been started by fireworks. a vacaville spokesman says the fire started saturday night.and embers quickly spread by winds that gusted to forty miles per hour. over one hundred people left their homes in voluntary evacuations. several homes were threatened.but no structures were burned. four people have been displaced after a home in san jose caught fire last night. according to a fire captain.illegal fireworks landed in the back yard. firefighters responded to the 800 block of yerba buena road around ten p-m. a resident attempted to put it out.but the fire ignited his home.and threatened the house behind him.

information about the extent of the damage caused by the fire was not immediately available. at least two people have died and dozens more are injured across the country due to 4th of july related activities. in kentucky a search is underway for three missing people after a boating accident. jeremy roth with our partners at c-n-n have details. > >jeremy their boat capsized in the ohio river in downtown kentucky. >>:we'll continue to search the areas where they think might be > > jeremy : the boat was pinned in the river and investigators are still trying to determine why the boat flipped over >>:we heard horrible screams > > jeremy : and 14 people were

temperatures running colder than average look it these temperatures for san francisco and the inland valleys cool weather coming up this weekend i will talk about that coming up >> vicki : a man who drowned in the russian river yesterday near monte rio beach has been identified. he is 20-year old jose fernando campos from pittsburg. sonoma county sheriff's responded to a call of a missing man in the river yesterday around 12-30.a few hours later they located him deceased at the bottom of the river. officials received information leading them to think the victim did not know how to swim and was not wearing a life jacket. a northern california family is searching throughout shasta county for a six month-old girl who went missing from her crib. the father reported the baby missing thursday morning and last saw her in the crib wednesday night. the baby's father matthew graham has become a person of interest in the case due to the inconsistent statements he has been giving shasta county investigators. he is currently in shasta county jail on probation violations. next.

this fourth of july. >> vicki : south carolina's governor called for the confederate flag's removal from the state house grounds. state lawmakers will begin debating the issue tomorrow meanwhile. nascar stirred up controversy this week when officials announced that fans should turn over their confederate flags for the stars and stripes. but some fans are still showing up with their flags. some read."heritage not hate" on the front. speedway officials did offer to swap stars and bars for stars and stripes.but the speedway did not collect any on friday.and did not say if they collected any on the fourth. >>:they're getting rid of a little bit of history and quite frankly it is the fourth of july so we're going to fly flags should be the american flag >> vicki : both flags were flying high this fourth of july. one fan says he will not support the speedway if they continue to discourage the use of the confederate flag. earlier this week.several fans said they were not coming

because of nascar's stance on the stars and bars. they say they will just have to wait and see what happens next year. recaptured prison escapee david sweat was moved from a hospital to a maximum security prison early this morning. new york state corrections department officials say sweat is being held at the five points correctional facility in romulus, new york. sweat spent the past week hospitalized for gunshot wounds he sustained during his capture on june 28th. he was on the run for twenty- two days.after he and fellow inmate richard matt broke out of a maximum security prison last month. two of the three british teenage girls who left the u.k. earlier this year to join isis. are reportedly married. family members of the girls have said the two girls married men approved for them by isis. a family lawyer said all of the details are not known but one girl called her family to tell them the news and the other used social media to make the announcement. the girls caused concern earlier this year when they left their country without warning and fled to syria. the lawyer also said the news of their marriages has takes away hope that they will come back.

nine days into a marathon of nuclear talks secretary of state john kerry says progress is being made. he also says efforts to cut off all pathways for an iranian atomic bomb could go either way. kerry met with iranian foreign minister for three and a half hours today and things are moving forward. the deal would set a decade of restrictions on iran's nuclear program and grant iran significant relief from international sanctions. >>:in many ways this negotiation has been going on for literally a number of years over the past few days we have in fact made genuine progress. we have never been closer at this point in this negotiation and it could go either way >> vicki : world powers and iran are hoping to clinch a deal by tuesday. pope francis touched down for a three-country tour of latin america today. the region is home to nearly 40

>> vicki : spain is suffering from an ongoing heatwave making it almost impossible for tourists to sleep.and very hard to even visit the city. the region of andalusia is hitting temperatures of 104 degrees farenheit.while residents in the town of andujar jean are having to bear temperatures of 107. this heat is also increasing the risk of wild fires across the country. over one thousand residents have been evacuated from their homes from lingering flames. britain and france are also experiencing very high temperatures it was another beautiful day here in the bay area. kron 4's brian van aken is standing by with the forecast. brian, what can we expect for >> brian :temperatures dropping

little farms >> vicki : and if you'd like to connect with gabe slate. you can add him on facebook, follow him on twitter. or email - slate-at-kron4-dot- com. the san antonio missions in texas have been awarded world heritage status by the u-n's cultural body. the world heritage committee approved the listing sunday of five spanish roman catholic sites around the city of san antonio. the most well known of the mission's is the alamo and these steph were the only sites in the u.s. that received status this year. spain used these missions to convert indigenous people to catholicism. drones could replace humans in a variety of ways around large farms. such as transmitting detailed information about crops.directing farmers to problem spots.and cutting down on the amount of water and chemicals used. the use of drones in agriculture is just taking off this year.after being grounded by the lack of federal guidelines. the federal aviation administration is working on rules that would allow drones to be used regularly for business.
